...so my man (and my second-choice man too) lost. Apparently, Brian gave his second vote to Left List! No wonder he turned the tories down. :o)

But you know what? "Trust the people", as a political giant once said. I think we can cope with Boris. I hope it'll be OK, and, actually, I think it will.

I wish I could share your optimism. And indeed, your self-identification with London, a city where I daily feel more like Sting's Englishman in New York.

I must confess that I am an extremist in one respect; I am a totally extremist democrat. When a vote is returned, I embrace it.

I admit that this is a political philosophy that wouldn't have worked out well in 1930s Germany, but I'm hoping we're not facing that, and I am optimistic that we're not.
