Greensleeves

This morning, I'm listening to lots of versions of Greensleeves.
And not a single one of the versions I've heard does the tune I expect in the first line. I expect something nice and modal. Perhaps at a party I can put it to you better, but for now I'm just saying that it doesn't quite sound right.
So we have : doo doo doo doo di di doo doo doo....
It's the first 'di' that sounds wrong to me: a semitone too low. Any other musos with me on this?
