ajva: (real Anne)
Well, on Saturday I dusted down my bonkers hat and finally bit the bullet. I cycled from my house to Stef's at 4:20 on a Saturday afternoon. It is a five and a half mile trip and took me 38 minutes on my rackety old single-speed bike, including the twice I had to stop and check the A-Z. I think that's quite good for a first time.

Unfortunately Stef had not got home yet when I arrived at his house, so I had to sit on the steps for a bit. He looked a little confused, obviously wondering why I was wearing a vest top and shorts and a red face. "You bastard!" I exclaimed happily. "Look! I cycled!" And he looked pleasantly stunned. Then he gave me a cycle map/various bike things as reward.

Then on Sunday I cycled to my grading and was very early. Then I did 45 mins-1 hour of combination after combination with only three 15-second stops for water. It was much much *much* more intense physically than I was anticipating. However, I now have a blue belt. I cycled back to Stef's, triumphant and ready to explode with chuffed babbling.

Unfortunately Stef had not got home yet when I arrived at his house, so I had to sit on the steps for a bit. His mate had run off with his keys and he had had a crisis getting them back blah blah.

But that doesn't matter, 'cos I'm a blue belt! :o)

Oh, and the subject line to this message? Well, I called my Dad, and he said "you really ought to watch out, Anne; you'll be getting fit if you're not careful."

Bless him. I love my Dad.
