Further random thought, having just seen Casino Royale

I reckon James Bond would be good to have in your pub quiz team.

Yes,

except every time I looked over at him I would forget every piece of general knowledge I possessed.

What, because he'd smash the face in of anyone who did better than your team?

That's a benefit I hadn't considered, certainly. The idea just gets better and better.

Yes. Yes he would.
Although, by turning "have in your pub quiz team" into a metaphor, one ceases worrying about a lack of general knowledge.

There is a book - OHMSS? - where he does rather well at pub games IIRC :)

I cannot imagine enjoying the new Bond - he looks like a thug plain and simple. And yes I know Bond in the books is a mixture of thuggish and debonair, but I need more debonair!

And ones where his knowledge is thoroughly shown up, usually because a reader had pointed out a mistake in an earlier book to Fleming. Changing his gun is the classic one.
