Date: 2008-02-25 11:38 am (UTC)Thanks to my mild-mannered German tutor (think Clark Kent only blonder and Germanic) I can understand Berlin accents pretty well and not sound too wierd myself. Which is a great improvement from my previous Hochdeutsch/Hessisch/English mix that basically sounded like a Geordie taking the mick out of the Queen, causing great hilarity.
Haven't been to Berlin since 1990, when I was mainly babysitting. I know it's changed a lot. Back then there were many streets with a very new, shiny, strip of black tarmac down the middle...
