I've paid off one of my credit cards with a chunk of cash (with a consolidation loan at much lower interest), but I accidentally overpaid because I checked the repayable balance before the final monthly payment filtered through to the account.

So I've donated $20 to Karyn, and I'm going to leave the other £20 or so in the account to see what happens when a credit card account is actually ... well ... *in credit*.

Wonder if they'll pay me interest? :o)

Surely it can't be that easy

I don't know, there are a lot more worthy causes out there than shopoholics (curse that shopohol!). Yes, I admire her nerve in just standing up there asking for money, but no more than I admire homeless people who stand on the street and do the same; probably less, in fact, since all she hs to do is sit at her laptop and tap in a few messages, whereas they have to stand out in the elements, and face abuse and ignorance every day. Don't send money to her. Buy the Big Issue. Give your spare change to buskers. Give it to a friend in need. Don't waste it on someone you'll never meet, whatever guff she talks about karma.

I do buy the Big Issue. I buy food for homeless people, and give change to buskers. If a friend is in need, I help out. I wasn't suggesting doing this in place of other charitable actions, just as an aside. I hate having all this money when other people don't - apart from what I plan to save for a deposit on a house, the rest is going on as much other stuff (and people) as possible.
