gay adoption
Oct. 16th, 2002 01:50 pmI support this, of course. But only 47.8% of BBC website visitors do, it seems. Anyone agreeing with me may like to go here and help.
I have also been bombarding Talking Point with comments. Interestingly, the BBC website says it won't publish sexist racist...etc. or HOMOPHOBIC comments. I think they're tiptoeing a very fine line on this one.

Interestingly everyone in a furore against the bill keeps saying "homosexual men" too - I've not seen anyone mention lesbians, let alone slate them.
And what's more: What about homosexuals in opposite gender marriages?

One reason why representative democracy is better than participatory democracy...

Date: 2002-10-17 12:48 am (UTC)Interesting that the comment they have at the start is from a gay person saying that gay people shouldn't be allowed to adopt. He gives a reason (no legal recognition of gay partnerships) but his no still adds to the percentage of no.
The rest of the comments were: god doesn't like it; children need a male and a female parent (like that actually happens all tha time); kids will get screwed up (no explanation for why or how exactly); kids will get bullied at school; one comment from a babysitter who couldn't deal with the fact that the child she was looking after was able to deal with the concept of homosexuality and then the influence argument despite the fact we are just what we are.
Trying to compose comment that kicks all above arguments in the teeth.
