well...

That's a first. For my birthday, I decided I would go for a meal instead of holding a big party (I will hold one next year, for my 30th).

I decided to go here, where meals for two cost a stupid amount of money.

I just had a phone call from a lady (with a cute French accent), confirming my reservation for tonight. This has never happened to me before, and stinks of good service.

I am really looking forward to this.

Happy birthday! Hope the food lives up to the service (I expect it will).

Shit. That's really rather good. Hope the food lives up to the service. Coming out for a drink this weekend?

Happy birthday!

Enjoy, and tell us all about it afterwards!

Happy Birthday! Will you be at the LL on Friday?

Many top restaurants phone to confirm your booking as they will have a waiting list for people wanting a table.

Happy Birthday! Eeek, they have a dress code!

[identity profile] jhg.livejournal.com 2003-02-05 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nice one. Do they have a dress code? I once got thrown out of a (hotel) restaurant twice for being improperly dressed.

Happy Birthday!

You out Friday?

Dress code is 'smart casual', but blokes have to wear a jacket. That'll be 'very smart casual' then.

[identity profile] ajva.livejournal.com 2003-02-05 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
P.S. How did you get thrown out twice, once?

[identity profile] jhg.livejournal.com 2003-02-05 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
When I was at Gleneagles hotel with Mum and Dad (not all that long before they split up, as it happens).

The dress code for dinner was jacket and tie; I got told to go back to my room and change twice on the first night before I got it right - wishful thinking rather than stupidity I promise!

And *are you coming out on Friday*?

I don't ask merely for academic interest.

uh-huh

Yes. In fact I have already posted in the affirmative re: this, about 10 minutes ago.

Happy Birthday!
Was taken to that restuarant years ago and it was incredible.
I hope you have a fabulous time.
