I have spectacles! I shall be wearing them part-time.

I was a total sitting duck for that camp Asian butterfly of a frame salesman, though: I've got me some pricey Dior frames. Internet shopping next time, I think. Once I'm used to all this arcane prescriptions stuff.

See if they wrote down your pupillary distance on your prescription anywhere - it's useful when ordering online and IME they don't usually write it down unless you ask them.

HOW much?!? I paid £15 for my last pair of glasses, including p&p!

On the other hand I do think there are good arguments for splurging on a first pair of glasses - having spent one's inheritance (or whatever) on them, one's that much more likely to e.g. take care of them and actually wear them and so forth. I've been wearing glasses for over twenty years, though...
