My back pain is getting worse, exacerbated by kickboxing, and now hurting for some days after each training session. I'm going to see the doc and cut back down to training once a week. Hope I don't have a long-term problem that will necessitate stopping entirely for months (grrrr). Many of my bones have started popping too, although no pain in most places. Ah well, I suppose this is the flip side of an active life: sports injuries(!)

On the good news channel, however, the group theory proofs that constituted question 4 of my homework to be sent off today (and thus finished last night) - the ones I had looked at and seized up on on Monday night - just dripped off my pen like water last night, like turning on a tap. Bizarre.

That

does not sound good. How much are you training per week?

Perhaps cutting back is indeed a good idea as a lot of leg work puts strain on the back. Doctors is a good idea too.

Hope it goes well.

I'm not so sure about sports injuries. In theory it should be possible to choose a way to exercise that makes injury very unlikely... hmm, must go swimming this week...

yay group theory! That doesn't seem bizarre at all, I think that's the normal way of things...

Very true. The trouble is that now I've been kickboxing for a couple of months, I find that I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really like it. So it's not just a form of exercise for me any more, but a hobby with tactical elements and a social side etc. etc. It'll be a real bummer if I can't do it because my body can't take it. However, I'm sure I can get it all sorted out with a bit of chiropractic, which worked wonders for me when I had seemingly incurable back pain years ago (turned out to be a tilted pelvis, which the chiropractor just pushed back into place - yay!).

I can't criticise - I haven't exercised since Belgium. I need to find an exercise that'll get me out of breath the way running on the spot does, without doing my knees and ankles in...

Excuse me for sounding predictable...

... but cycling's often recommended as "non-impact" exercise.
Or were you looking at something indoors / without equipment?

Unfortunately in my case my muscles tail off before I start breathing heavily... never used to be the case.

I'll write a proper LJ about this later today.

Shite.

You're doing the right thing, though: cut back to once a week, keep the swimming up ('cause it's totally non-impact,) and go see the Doc. Hope you feel better...

Well, regular exercise does make one cleverer...
