Just to say I've deleted my deadjournal. This is not meant to be in a spirit of rancour, but just because I've realised I can't use it the way I want to; it just winds people up. I tried to do a blanket vent yesterday to make myself feel better but it just pissed people off and they started arguing with me, quite understandably - but it rather defeated the point. I didn't want to disable comments, but what I really needed was a button that said "Allow comments that agree with you only," which of course is impossible. :o)

No hard feelings, I hope. Certainly none from my side.

I dont think there is a need to delete your dj, especially now you have explained this - if you dont want to disable comments in future just mark such posts with something like "VENT - usual requirement re comments" and I will be happy to comply :)

I'm so with you there. You can always say in the post that you only want comments of agreement, I suppose? Sorry to see you go.

Fwiw, I've sometimes posted a request for comments of agreement only, and have found that people have respected it. Of course, the people who wanted to comment negatively may have done so where I can't see, but I don't mind that. Might be worth trying in future, if you still want to have somewhere to vent or post when feeling vulnerable or whatever.

None from me -- and I should have stressed more firmly that if a difference of opinion over the Iraq war isn't worth losing a friend over, a difference of opinion over the Olympics most certainly is not. And I'm glad someone is pleased we've got them.

None here. I am looking forward to the Olympics, fwiw, now that we have them.

See you soon.
